Tomorrow We Pour The Floors

Mike sent a note today saying we will pour the garage and sunroom floors tomorrow. That will be historic event.

Today was mild and overcast with no significant rain. John and Tim (HAC) returned and worked on installing the channel on the side of the house for the AC condensers. Josh's side-kick (electrician) returned and started the installation of the breaker panel to be located in the connecting porch. When I got Mike's note about pouring concrete tomorrow, John and Tim had already departed for the day so I forwarded Mike's note to Frank (HAC) and asked if they intended to pressure test the radiant floor circulation loop before it was buried in concrete. This is what John and Tim indicated they were going to do last Friday, but never showed up. Frank responded "no", there was no need. OK, it will be a big mess if they detect a leak after the concrete is in place. It will not be hard to tell if there is a leak as this is a closed system. The electrician said he would not be back tomorrow. John told me last week that someone from Frank's shop would be here during the concrete pour to ensure the heating coils are not damaged.

I showed Tim the holes poked through the ground foam insulation by the termite people. He said the holes were so small, there is no need to plug or even tape over them.

We will need to paint the channel they installed today to blend in with the brick. When the condensing units are moved around to the east side of the house, the coolant lines will run through the foundation, across the basement turret and out to the new condenser location on the other side of the turret.

The roofers did not show up again. T noticed a water stain on the second floor ceiling just above the main stairway. I went upstairs and there is another small stain on the east ceiling wall. Both of these stains correspond to the roof just above the third floor cedar closet. This part of the roof was not shingled for almost three weeks, just felted. We had several rain showers during that time. My inspections indicated there was some leakage into the cedar closet, but it did not appear to be significant. We will point this out to Brent and watch the stains closely. If they do not progress, we'll chalk it up to the lack of shingles and let it go. We supposedly have a strong storm coming in this Friday. That will be a good test.
